We also feature Action Pistol and Action Rifle Matches that incorporate features similar to IDPA shooting. And for those looking for realistic scenarios, our Low-Light Match allows contestants to enter a darkened room with erratic lighting and respond to a series of unknown threats as they move through the course.

Scoring

Competition is double elimination, so each shooter shoots until he/she has two losses, and only one shooter remains without two losses. The winner of each classification is eligible to participate in a second series of competition with the other class winners for overall champion. “Buy-Ins” are permitted, allowing a shooter with two losses to shoot again, this time on a single elimination basis, if done before the end of the third relay. See “Fees”, below.

Classes
  • Semi-Auto (Any capacity or sighting system)
  • Revolver
  • Ladies (Limited to females only, though females may compete in the other classes)
  • Employee (Range employees and instructors cannot compete against others for record)
  • Youth (Under 16)
  • Rifle (Any action or sighting system, shot at 20 feet further back than handguns)
  • Overall (Winner of shoot-out between class winners)
Equipment Any .22LR, rifle or handgun, of any action or sighting system is allowed, as well as any method of reloading, and back-up guns. There is no limit on type or amount of ammunition, except that regular range rules apply. All equipment must be carried on the person. If back-up guns are used, a holster carrying the back-up and one to receive the primary weapon must be used. Needless to say, eye and ear protection are mandatory.
Prizes Medals for class winners and runner-ups, $20 gift certificate to overall winner.
Fees The entry fee is $10, which allows the shooter to shoot as described above. “Buy-Ins” are $5.00, limit 2. Shooters may register for a second class for $10. There are no other fees except cost of ammo purchased at the range.

Bowling Pin Match

Description

This match consists of two competitors shooting at the same time to clear 5 bowling pins each off of their tables. The fastest wins. Each table is elevated to 3.5 feet, and is 4' by 8'. Pins are placed 1' back from the front edge on the 8' length, facing the shooter. There are barriers to prevent the pins from rolling off the sides. Shooters are 25' from the tables, loaded weapons at the ready, and begin to engage the targets on command. The first to knock all his pins off the table is the winner. A maximum time limit of 30 seconds will be in effect.

On command, competitors will load their handguns. On the next order they will commence firing at the targets. They will have 3 minutes to fire ten rounds. After all shooters have fired the 10 rounds, or time expires, the targets are then run in and changed out. Fresh targets will then be hung and moved out to 10 yards. Shooting will repeat. These targets will be exchanged for fresh ones, which will be run out to 15 yards, and the shooting repeated. Low Light Match

Description

This match consists of one extended realistic scenario in which the contestant enters a darkened room with erratic lighting, and responds to a series of unknown threats as he moves through the course. It entails barricades, use of cover, movement, moving targets, shooting while moving, strong-hand and weak-hand only shooting, unknown targets, reactionary plates, and clothed IDPA type targets. At times other activities may be required while engaging threats (don't ask what!). All shots will, of course, be directed forward into the backstop. Reloading will be required. Strict safety rules will be enforced, and all shooters must attend a safety briefing before shooting. Shooters will be accompanied by a Safety Officer carrying a flashlight pointed down who will provide “ambiance” and assure safe and fair conduct.

Scoring

IDPA oriented, with points down divided by time elapsed, so that accuracy and speed are factors. Failure to engage and neutralize a target will be penalized. Shooting a no-shoot target incurs a penalty. Only the first run through the course will count for score. An equipment failure that is not corrected on the spot is a DNF. All scores will be reported for all runs, but only the first run counts. You may enter either class, but not both.

Time Allowing

We will run the stage more than once, with only the initial run counting in the competition. For the second run, the range lights may be turned on or left off as the competitors decide.

Prizes

Medals for class winners and runner-ups, $20 gift certificate to overall winner.

Fees

The entry fee is $10, which allows the shooter to shoot as described above. There are no other fees except cost of ammo purchased at the range.

Safety Rules

Two safety rules will be enforced with no exceptions:

  • Keep you muzzle pointed down range at all times
  • Keep your finger off the trigger except when engaging a target
